This short-term internship will support a focused project on assay performance monitoring and digital enablement across the Clinical Biomarker Laboratories (CBL). You will evaluate current approaches to assay performance tracking (e.g. trending, control data, variability) and develop a simple, scalable digital solution to improve visibility, standardisation, and transferability across functional assay teams. The work will be grounded in real datasets and laboratory workflows, with a focus on practical implementation and exploration of AI-driven approaches where appropriate.

Here’s What You’ll Do

  • Review current assay performance monitoring and data trending approaches.
  • Engage with Flow Cytometry and Immunoassay teams to understand workflows and data structures.
  • Identify gaps in standardisation, data access, and cross‑team usability.
  • Design and prototype a digital solution (e.g. dashboard, automated trending, AI‑supported insights).
  • Explore AI/data‑driven approaches to detect drift, variability, or performance issues.
  • Support laboratory‑based activities under supervision to understand assay execution and data generation.
  • Present a final recommendation and/or working prototype.
  • Interact with stakeholders across Moderna’s clinical testing functions (Assay Leads, Study Leads, Operations, Automation, Compliance) to ensure solutions are aligned to practical use.
