Modern Sewing Co. is a small Hackney based business which provides high quality PDF patterns and online workshops to home sewers all over the world. Our brand ethos is that anyone can sew beautiful, high quality clothing from their own home and we make it achievable and exciting to do that.
Digital marketing is the heart and soul of the Modern Sewing Co. - it’s the one and only way we communicate with our customers, create excitement and generate sales. The mood of the marketing comes directly from the founder, Hetty, who shares her sewing projects and mission in great detail. The genuine passion behind her marketing has helped to build a natural momentum and loyal following. Customers regularly comment that they look forward to receiving our newsletters and get a lot of value from them.
Our team is small and dynamic and there is real opportunity to work creatively within a growing business. We have a caring team, we take lunches together and we have a friendly and productive studio atmosphere. We’re looking for someone likeminded to join the team in a role that covers both the Marketing and Customer Service within the business.
Responsibilities- Creating engaging and creative content for social media and our website
- Keep up to date on the latest social media trends
- Content planning and brainstorming
- Maintain consistent brand messaging throughout all platforms
- Create email campaigns to target specific customers
- Improve and maintain highly engaging email flows
- Answering customer service emails each day
- Instagram: Create photo & video content for Instagram, brainstorm engaging content ideas based around sewing, plan a weekly content schedule, film the content and edit the results to create high quality, creative videos
- TikTok: Oversee building an audience on a new channel, create video content suitable for a TikTok audience/repost Instagram videos on TikTok, write a mixture of short and long form newsletters set on the brief each week, upload the newsletters to the website blog, brainstorm content ideas to work around launches, keeping our readers inspired and engaged, work on improvements to current flows, monitor success of flows and brainstorm improvements
- Meta Ads: Monitor progress of ads on Meta, analyse success and develop new ideas to test
- Customer Service Emails: Answering customer service emails every weekday
- Outreach & Collaborations (PR): Contacting potential collaborators such as likeminded companies to work on mini shared projects, communicating with influencers to set up collaborations
- Good written communication skills for writing our long form emails. Being able to write in the tone of the company is paramount, as well as answering customer emails.
- Photography and videography skills – this can be using a phone or our simple camera but it’s important you have a good eye and an understanding of our aesthetic to be able to create really high quality content.
- An understanding of sewing isn’t necessary but we’re looking to work with someone likeminded who is interested in creative pursuits.
- A good eye for graphics and the general company aesthetic and experience in working with Canva/Illustrator/Capcut.
This role can either be 3 days a week or 5 days a week. For 3 days a week we would like someone available to work Tuesday‐Thursday in our Hackney studio as these are our team days. If you’re available for 5 days a week the other 2 days can be either working from home or in the studio. Our working hours are 9am – 5.30pm.
If you’d prefer a part time position we would require 1‐2 hours on Monday and Friday to cover customer service emails.
