Modern Networks, established in 2000, is a growing IT Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Internet Service Provider (ISP) specialising in delivering services to the property management sector and commercial businesses nationwide. We work closely with customers to deliver a wide range of IT services, from endpoint technology to connectivity and telephony. Our partnerships with market‑leading vendors enable us to deliver first‑class services and solutions.
The Senior Network Support Engineer sits in our third line managed services, and plays a key role in maintaining and supporting both internal and external network infrastructure and services. The role focuses on the management, operation, and support of network systems and equipment. You will respond to incidents, service requests, and system‑generated events, ensuring stability, performance, and excellent customer experience. Additionally, this role requires participation in our Out of Hours rota (approx 1 in every 4 weeks).
What we are looking for:
- Previous experience in a network‑focused IT service role
- Strong experience configuring and supporting routers and switches
- Demonstrated experience in managing Cisco and/or Fortinet technologies
- Experience with security products, especially Cisco ASA & Firepower
- Understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Experience with monitoring tools (LibreNMS, Fortinmanager, Nagios)
- Knowledge of network security, AAA, TACACS, RADIUS, 802.1X
- Good understanding of wireless systems (Meraki, Ubiquiti, Cisco, etc.)
- Experience using ITSM tools for ticketing, time logging, and remote support
