Scale Models Weston Ltd is a prestigious model maker with over 40 years of heritage. Based near Colchester in Essex, we specialise in nautical and marine models but also work across prototyping and architectural industries. We’re looking for an experienced model maker to join our team. This is an exciting role to work with some of the most prestigious names in superyacht and military boat designs.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience creating scale models and a good understanding of the processes required, including 3D printing, laser cutting, sanding, finishing, spray painting and reading 2D and 3D plans. 3D drawing in Rhino is also advantageous. At SMW, we utilise 3D printers, CNC milling, and other technology to create each scale model to a high standard; the person we are looking for will enjoy a hands-on role, have a meticulous eye for detail, and be driven to create a high-finish model.
The candidate will be responsible for producing high-specification components for models, either individually or as part of a team working on sections that will come together seamlessly and functionally. A keen eye for detail, a passion for creating beautiful things, and a love of anything nautical are all beneficial!
To be considered, you will need:
- A keen interest in the model-making industry or a model-making degree.
- A portfolio of previous work or personal projects.
- Meticulous hand-finishing skills and an eye for detail.
