Mode Search is supporting a luxury brand in the search for a Merchandising Manager to lead inventory strategy, stock optimisation, and product performance across retail, wholesale and event channels. This role will sit at the centre of commercial operations, ensuring product availability is aligned with business demand while driving efficiencies through data-led merchandising and cross-functional collaboration. The position is based in London with a full-time office-based set up, working Monday to Friday. The role sits within the wider Production function and reports directly to the Head of Production, partnering closely with Sales, Wholesale, Marketing, Logistics and Finance teams.

The Role

  • Take ownership of stock management and movement across all collection inventory within retail locations, wholesale partners, events and internal holdings.
  • Maintain full visibility of stock positioning across the business, ensuring accurate tracking, reporting and inventory records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and proactively identify stock shortages, excess holdings and reallocation requirements.
  • Partner with Logistics teams to coordinate transfers, recalls, returns and stock movements to support commercial needs.
  • Support stock reconciliations and maintain accuracy across internal systems and reporting tools.
  • Produce regular stock reviews and reporting to provide visibility across product locations and availability.
  • Analyse sales performance, product categories and collection trends to identify best sellers, slower performing lines and opportunities for growth.
  • Review stock efficiency and recommend actions to improve product availability while reducing excess inventory.
  • Work closely with Retail and Wholesale teams to understand demand, upcoming launches, client requirements and commercial priorities.
  • Support event activity, appointments and presentations through strategic product allocation and movement planning.
  • Ensure key products are available for priority clients, events and commercial opportunities.
  • Prepare and deliver reporting around stock positioning, performance analysis and movement activity for senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor product performance across multiple channels to support wider business planning and decision making.
  • Identify underperforming inventory and support actions relating to movement strategies, consolidation, archival planning or future product direction.
  • Act as the central point of coordination between Production, Sales, Wholesale, Logistics and Finance teams regarding existing stock management.
  • Contribute to process improvements across merchandising operations, reporting structures and inventory controls.
  • Support wider team initiatives, strategic projects and ad hoc business requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years’ experience within merchandising, inventory management, stock planning or retail operations, ideally in luxury or high-value product environments.
  • Strong commercial understanding of stock performance, inventory optimisation and product lifecycle management.
  • Advanced analytical capability with confidence working across sales reporting, forecasting and inventory data.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with experience collaborating across multiple departments.
  • Strong Excel capability alongside experience using inventory systems, ERP platforms and reporting tools.
  • Previous exposure to luxury jewellery, watches, fashion or other premium product sectors would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of wholesale operations, retail merchandising and stock planning methodologies.
  • Experience supporting event inventory allocation and client-focused product management.
  • Commercially minded with strong problem-solving ability and confidence making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience contributing to operational improvements, process development and reporting enhancements.
