Mode Executive is supporting a luxury lifestyle brand in the search for a Global Retail Director. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a commercially driven, hands-on operator who can combine strategic vision with operational excellence, delivering global retail growth while elevating client experience and brand positioning.
This role will oversee boutiques and concessions in New York, Paris and London as well as new openings globally.
The role is based in London, with frequent international travel. It reports directly to the CEO and encompasses global retail operations across flagship stores, concessions, and department store partnerships, requiring close collaboration with merchandising, marketing, finance, supply chain, and e-commerce teams.
The Role
- Define and execute an international retail strategy including flagship consolidation, new openings, and concessions.
- Own global P&L management, budgets, forecasts, and market-specific KPI targets.
- Optimise store productivity, staffing, and stock allocation to maximise profitability.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire multicultural retail teams across multiple regions, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Design and implement training programmes focused on luxury service, clientelling, and visual merchandising excellence.
- Deliver seamless client journeys and ensure elevated service standards for HNWI audiences.
- Represent the brand at openings, in-store activations, private events, and press engagements.
- Negotiate and manage partnerships with top-tier department stores, securing prime retail locations.
- Partner cross-functionally to align retail, product, merchandising, marketing, and finance strategies.
- Collaborate with digital and e-commerce teams to integrate retail with omnichannel experiences.
Requirements
- At least 8 years’ experience in luxury retail management across multi-market environments.
- Proven success in scaling retail networks, including store openings and concession development.
- Strong record of P&L ownership, budget management, and driving profitability across geographies.
- Experience leading and motivating multicultural teams across multiple regions.
- Expertise in luxury clientelling, VIP engagement, and delivering exceptional retail service models.
- Strong analytical ability with experience using retail KPIs, sales reporting, and ROI tracking.
- Skilled in negotiation and partnership management with department stores and landlords.
- Confident public speaker, able to represent a brand at events and activations.
- Previous experience overseeing high-profile concessions, ideally including Harrods or equivalent luxury destinations.
- Familiarity with digital retail tools (Shopify POS, CRM systems, clientelling platforms).
- Master’s degree in Business, Retail, or Luxury Management preferred.
- Fluency in English; additional languages an advantage.
