Softs Designer – Leading Fashion Supplier

Mode Search is supporting a leading design and manufacturing partner with the appointment of a Senior Softs Designer. This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and commercially minded individual to join a dynamic team and contribute to the development of trend-led, high street collections.

The role is based full-time in the London office, reporting directly to the Design Manager. It is a permanent position, working closely with both the design and sales teams.

The Role

• Design and develop commercial Softs collections for clients
• Source fabrics and create innovative ranges tailored to the needs and aesthetic of different retail partners.
• Present design concepts and collections to stakeholders, adapting ranges in response to feedback.
• Collaborate closely with the sales team to manage accounts and ensure a cohesive approach to clients.
• Liaise with buyers, merchandisers, and production teams to meet cost and margin requirements.
• Monitor competitors and market trends to inform design direction, producing mood boards and concept presentations.
• Maintain the design critical path, ensuring timely delivery of samples and production‑ready designs.
• Travel on a semi‑regular basis to attend client meetings and presentations.

Requirements

• Strong commercial awareness and ability to translate trends into relevant designs for the high street market.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Confident presenter with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator, with a strong graphic and print focus.
• A motivated, enthusiastic, and proactive approach, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
