We are looking for a seasoned project director to take on a senior portfolio stewardship role across our project portfolio. Our projects are typically large, multi-million software and hardware implementations for public transport operators, authorities, and mobility providers. This role maintains a clear, high-level view across all critical and important projects, tracks progress, performance and risk, and stays closely connected with local project management teams to understand their challenges and opportunities.

A strong technical background is essential: understanding the complexity of specific delivery milestones β€” particularly in software and hardware integration β€” is key to providing meaningful support and asking the right questions. The role reports to the COO EMEA & Asia and is central to building the project management capability, governance, and tooling the business needs to scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clear portfolio-level view of all critical and important projects; track progress against forecast, assess risk, identify deviations, and work closely with local teams to drive corrective action.
  • Ensure robust scope management and client expectation management across the portfolio β€” maintaining clarity on contractual boundaries and proactively addressing potential misalignments.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and escalation point for local project managers β€” helping teams navigate delivery challenges and achieve the best outcomes.
  • Design and implement robust project management processes, governance frameworks, and tooling β€” including workload management, time tracking accuracy, and change management practices.
  • Establish cost- and revenue-focused project management practices, including financial controlling, cash flow oversight, contingency management, and rigorous cost-to-complete assessments.
  • Train and coach existing project managers in new methodologies, tools, and financial disciplines.
  • Drive organizational change within the project functions β€” identify gaps, outline improvements, and implement solutions in close collaboration with the business CEOs.

This role involves approximately 50% international travel and may be located in Europe.

Your Profile

  • Experience managing complex projects within a governmental or public sector procurement framework.
  • Proven track record of personally delivering large, multi-million software and hardware implementation projects end-to-end.
  • Strong technical knowledge β€” able to assess delivery complexity, challenge assumptions, and meaningfully support teams on technical milestones.
  • Experience implementing improvements to project management methodology, organisation, and governance.
  • Hands-on experience deploying project management and workload management tools.
  • Strong understanding of project financials: budgeting, cost control, revenue recognition, and cash flow.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills; strong stakeholder management at all levels.
  • Pragmatic hands-on mentality β€” comfortable working directly on problems in a scaling organisation.
  • Background in public transport, mobility technology, or complex B2B enterprise software is a strong advantage.
