We are looking for a phlebotomist to join our teams across AWC Division on a 12 month fixed-term contract on a full time basis, working across our practice sites. This is an important patient-facing role where you will play a key part in supporting clinicians by performing venepuncture and ensuring blood samples are collected, recorded and processed accurately. You will work closely with the nursing team and wider practice staff to ensure patients receive safe, efficient and compassionate care.

Main duties of the job
This is a hands-on, patient-facing clinical role focused on delivering safe and effective phlebotomy services. You will support the practice team by carrying out venepuncture procedures and ensuring samples are handled and recorded accurately in accordance with clinical protocols. You will work closely with clinical colleagues and support patient care by maintaining high standards of safety, infection prevention, and patient experience.
- Performing venepuncture to obtain blood samples following direct referral from a GP or nurse/nurse practitioner
- Ensuring accurate identification of patients and correct labelling of all blood samples
- Recording blood sample collections in patient records in line with practice procedures
- Preparing and dispatching samples to laboratories in a timely manner
- Supporting patients to feel comfortable and reassured during procedures
- Following infection prevention and control guidelines at all times
- Escalating any clinical concerns or anomalies to a senior member of staff
- Contributing positively as a caring and professional member of the practice team
