We are looking for a GP Assistant to join our teams at Crawley Down Health Centre and Judges Close Surgery working full time. This is far more than a traditional administrative role. You will be a key member of the clinical team, supporting GPs with both administrative and basic clinical duties to maximise consultation time, improve access to appointments, and enhance the patient experience.

Main duties of the job:
This is a hands-on, patient-focused role supporting General Practitioners in the day-to-day management of patients. The primary aim of the role is to reduce GP administrative burden, improve efficiency, and support timely access to care. The GP Assistant role is not a standard 9-5 position and is not purely back-office based. It requires flexibility, innovation, and the ability to work resourcefully as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting GPs during and around consultations by undertaking administrative and agreed clinical tasks
- Managing and processing clinical documentation, results, and correspondence
- Supporting access to appointments and patient flow within the practice
- Working collaboratively across the division to deliver innovative ways of working
- Contributing to service improvement and operational efficiency
- Maintaining professional boundaries and escalating concerns appropriately

- Qualifications: Recognised degree qualification in autonomous practice.
- Experience: Working within General Practice not mandatory. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Use of multiple IT systems. Basic knowledge of English and Mathematics.
- Skills: Effective communication with patients, carers, clinicians, and external agencies. Confident use of different communication methods (telephone, email, tasks). Strong time management and organisational skills. Ability to recognise and maintain professional boundaries.
