About Turning Point

We are looking for a Chartered Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to ensure the effective management, development and delivery of all psycho-social interventions within the newly formed MHTR team based within our substance misuse services in LLR.

Role responsibilities

  • You will offer clinical guidance, training and leadership to a team of Senior Assistant and Assistant Psychologists who facilitate psycho-social interventions with individuals on a Mental Health Treatment Requirement.
  • Lead the implementation of innovative approaches developed within other Turning Point MHTR services, working closely with the Clinical Lead under the supervision of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
  • Oversee governance of the Leicestershire MHTR service with operational colleagues and provide practical advice on evidence-based interventions to colleagues and local agencies.
  • Inspire, develop and coordinate the team; support Senior Assistant, Assistant Psychologists and Peer Support Workers in developing psychological formulation skills and a trauma-informed approach.
  • Maintain a small caseload of service users with complex needs, providing specialist psychological assessments and therapies.
  • Influence the strategic direction of the service, build professional links with statutory and voluntary providers, and help integrate housing, employment and finances into treatment processes.
  • Collaborate with the national team of Clinical, Counselling and Forensic Psychologists to share approaches and develop your career in a therapeutic specialism aligned with service needs.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Up to date HCPC registration as a Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist.
  • Doctorate in your professional specialty and proven ability to deliver psychological services.
  • Experience leading and supervising clinical staff; ideally with experience working with substance misuse service users.
  • Formal supervision training is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication, adaptability and a commitment to the Recovery Agenda.
