Turning Point is a leading Social Enterprise which supports people with a wide range of complex needs across Learning Disabilities, Mental Health, Substance Misuse and Public Health. We are recruiting for a Registered Nurse (RGN) or Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to work in our Rochdale & Oldham Active Recovery (ROAR) Substance Misuse Service as a Specialist Substance Misuse Nurse, to make a real difference to the lives of the people we support who are experiencing difficulties from drugs and alcohol usage. Role Responsibility
- Undertake a diverse role including running well-being clinics in the community, full healthcare assessments, Blood Borne Virus screening and vaccination, and support the management of alcohol and opiate community detoxifications along with other harm reduction and well-being interventions.
- Shape service delivery and contribute to clinically excellent services.
- This post suits a Registered Mental Health Nurse and involves working alongside the Rough Sleepers team.
- Provide a crucial link between substance use services and secondary mental health services in Oldham for a vulnerable and complex cohort, with close liaison to partners in mental health services, housing and social care.
- Hold a small caseload of service users assessed as requiring mental health support, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness but may not be ready to engage with substance use services.
- Demonstrate experience with substance use, excellent mental health assessment skills, and a flexible and proactive approach to engaging this hard-to-reach service user group.
Ideal Candidate / Qualifications
You will need to be a qualified nurse registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council. As an employee you will have access to RCNi to assist with revalidation, indemnity insurance and support and supervision from the nurse manager and clinical lead. We are looking for a Nurse who loves talking to people with different needs, is genuinely interested in helping them, and possesses empathy, understanding and patience.
