The Project Team delivers a range of different types of projects and product workstreams across the business, driving improvements to processes, systems, data, ways of working and more.
An exciting opportunity to work in a team that works across the organisation helping to improve the way we work and the tools we use. As our Business Project Manager, you will report into the Head of Projects. You will lead project and product teams comprising multiple business and technical subject matter experts and therefore will manage people indirectly. This is a hands‑on role where the role holder will be required to work at both a strategic and a detailed level through all the stages of the project/product delivery cycle. You will be required to work particularly closely with exec management team sponsors, heads of department, business and technology managers and their team members involved, giving you the ability to raise your profile across the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring that any external delivery partners are closely managed in order that PPL receives a high‑quality service and/or set of deliverables in line with agreed costs. In this role you will need the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organisation. There will be times where you will also be required to prepare and deliver high quality presentations and carry out the facilitation of group meetings and workshops and so need to have an authoritative presence to instil confidence in the audience.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver improvements to agreed time, cost and quality criteria.
- Prepare and deliver update reports and presentation materials for the relevant stakeholder groups.
- Prepare a detailed plan, revise and update as appropriate to reflect clearer delivery timescales and if relevant changing needs and requirements.
- Identify the resources needed and assign individual responsibilities, to ensure the work is fully resourced and the right capabilities are in place to deliver what is required, identifying any gaps as issues or risks.
- Manage day‑to‑day operational aspects of the project/product delivery and scope to keep within agreed thresholds.
- Apply PPL's delivery methodologies and enforce the associated standards.
- Manage risks and mitigate where possible to avoid adverse impacts on quality of deliverables and delivery to agreed timescales.
- Resolve and/or elevate issues in a timely fashion to avoid issues de‑railing implementation.
- Identify and gain agreement for the business change management requirements, to ensure that the deliverables can be adopted and embedded within the relevant teams.
- Drive the creation of key deliverables which enable and support adoption and embedding such as training/knowledge transfer, the documentation/update of business processes within PPL's Process Hub.
- Ensure a smooth handover to core operational teams, the Technology support team where relevant and PPL's quality managers as the project work is nearing completion.
