Mission

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth Defence manufacturer at the point of standing up its UK production capability.

As Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be one of the first engineers on the ground in Swindon and will be a driving force in shaping the processes, standards and ways of working that every aircraft built in the UK will depend on.

You will own the technical definition and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes for the AR3, AR3 EVO and AR5 platforms, from raw material through to flight-ready aircraft.

A significant early focus will be supporting the structured transfer of established build processes from TEKEVER's Portugal site into the Swindon facility through capturing, validating and translating existing knowledge into a controlled, UK-based production system.

You will spend the majority of your time on the shop floor.

You will be the technical authority for your area working directly with operators and technicians, resolving production issues, leading improvement projects and driving the standard of everything your area produces.

You will be the bridge between Product Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Design assembly and integration sequencing for complex electro-mechanical builds.
  • Own mechanical, electrical and system integration steps in production.
  • Define and own functional and acceptance production test procedures.
  • Specify test equipment and fixtures for repeatable production testing.
  • Lead troubleshooting of integration and production test issues.
  • Manage non-conformances during assembly and integration through to disposition.
  • Maintain configuration control throughout production.
  • Lead tech transfer of build and test sequences from Portugal to Swindon.
  • Take builds from engineering-development state into repeatable production.
  • Write and own work instructions and test procedures for your area.
  • Technical Skillset
  • Assembly process development for complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Mechanical and electrical system integration in production.
  • Functional and acceptance production testing.
  • Manufacturing Readiness and production ramp-up.
  • Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA).
  • PFMEA, control plans and manufacturing risk assessment.
  • Configuration management in a regulated environment.
  • CAD, ERP/MES and PLM systems.

Requirements

Essential

  • Track record of assembly process development for complex, multi-discipline products.
  • Direct experience with mechanical and electrical system integration.
  • Experience owning production test or acceptance test processes.
  • NPI and industrialisation experience, from development into repeatable production.
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001 or equivalent.
  • Eligible for UK SC clearance; BPSS eligible from day one.

Desirable

  • Direct UAS, avionics or defence-programme experience.
  • Composite airframe assembly or electrical harness integration.
  • Experience commissioning a new facility, cell or line from a standing start.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or above.
  • Relevant engineering qualification, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
