About the Role

We are looking for a Risk Graduate to own and support the credit underwriting quantitative manager with second line oversight activities across all Credit Risk positions, underwriting issues, and oversight responsibility in accordance with the risk appetite statement. You will build collaborative relationships with the 1st line of Defence Credit / Underwriting team, maintain and update the Bank’s Risk policies and the department’s risk procedures, provide in-depth analysis, market trends and horizon outlook, while keeping stakeholders informed on all critical developments. You will also build Quantitative models for effective challenge of 1st line of defence outputs, stay abreast of model changes, model development, implementation and validation across the Credit portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report on all Large Exposure Daily positions – including daily monitoring.
  • Second line of defence review of MFS underwriting credit portfolio, in line with the bank’s credit risk policies & the Department’s Risk procedures.
  • Primary Dealer and Underwriting counterparty assessments.
  • Credit model review and procedure review on aspects such as ECL, PD, LGDs, EADs.
  • Scorecard Oversight & Quantitative Development.
  • Ownership of Loan Origination Policy.
  • Thematic reviews on underwriting process and controls.
  • Drive governance around model changes or updates, and ensure approval at relevant Risk committees.
  • Develop executive reporting and review reports.
  • Monitor and report on counterparty exposures.
  • Oversight and some preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Development, collation, preparation, and presentation of Management Information for Excomm, CRC, ERC, BRC.
  • Ad hoc support to the Head of FRR and CRO.
  • Support the development of Risk appetite statement.
  • Support the development of the Recovery plan.
  • Support the Risk Management Framework development.
  • Own & Support the Macro Economic/Micro Economic Outlook.

About You

  • Entrepreneurial attitude, you think on a macro scale while managing micro-processes.
  • Intermediate capability in Excel and other tools/systems (R, Python, C++, Java).
  • Key culture behaviours across Risk embedding mindset, self-starter and proactive across key day to day initiatives.
  • Highly literate and numerate able to convey messages in a succinct way.
  • Understanding of Risk Frameworks / Governance and Risk Policy.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience of Risk Analytics and Modelling.
  • Strong eye for detail and high personal standards.
  • Set & maintain high operational standards to satisfy management expectations.
  • Absolute discretion; the incumbent will have access to very sensitive bank data.
  • Demonstrable passion for continued professional and personal development.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally with other departments, and influence others in a collaborative and positive manner.
