We are currently looking for a talented and driven SolidWorks / CAD Designer to join our Technical Services team at our Alfreton headquarters. If youre passionate about engineering, design precision, and making a real difference to people\’s lives, this could be your next great opportunity.
The Purpose of the Role
As a CAD Designer, youll play a vital part in designing and documenting high-quality mobility products. Youll develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), create installation/user manuals, and produce 3D models and detailed technical drawings to support our fabrication, installation, and production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and create 3D models for new product kits using SolidWorks
- Develop comprehensive SOPs, work instructions, and user/installation manuals
- Maintain documentation to support production, training, and installation teams
- Create illustrated parts catalogues for use across all departments
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and FMEA documentation processes
- Liaise cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams
- Assist in implementing improvements to streamline manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with other departments to efficiently manage technical enquiries
- Support a strong H&S and compliance culture through consistent documentation
What Were Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience:
- SolidWorks (3D CAD) proficiency and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready models and drawings
- Working knowledge of BS8888 & ISO128 drawing standards
- Familiar with manufacturing techniques (e.g. machining, bending, pressing, vacuum forming, etc.)
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills (8D, 5 Whys, etc.)
- Confident liaising with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experienced in creating training materials, SOPs, or process documents
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Degree (or equivalent) in a technical, mechanical, or design discipline
Desirable:
- Familiarity with Brig-Ayd or Autochair product ranges
- Experience in the mobility or automotive adaptation industry
