Welding Supervisor/Chargehand Location: Hayes, UB3 Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 (depending on experience) Are you an experienced welder with a strong background in metalwork manufacturing, looking to take the next step into a management role? We are seeking a skilled Welding Supervisor/Chargehand to lead a team in the sheet metal fabrication and welding department. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior welder who wants to transition from hands-on work to a leadership position while still applying their technical expertise in welding processes, team coordination, and quality control. Key Responsibilities: Lead the welding and metalwork production team, coordinating activities to ensure the production process runs smoothly, efficiently, and on time. Sign off on welders’ work and ensure that all welding tasks meet the required standards, including adherence to UKCA welding requirements and reading weld symbols. Oversee and maintain production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and quality is consistently delivered. Manage resources, monitor team performance, and maintain a strong focus on health and safety, ensuring that the team complies with all relevant industry standards. Maintain inventory and stock levels, liaise with subcontractors, and work closely with dispatch to ensure smooth operations across departments. Track production progress, including budget adherence and resource utilization, ensuring operational efficiency. Ideal Candidate: Knowledge of fabricated / sheet metal component manufacturing is essential. Extensive experience in metalwork manufacturing, specifically in welding and sheet metal fabrication. Strong understanding of welding processes, including UKCA welding requirements and the ability to read and interpret weld symbols. Previous experience in a supervisory or chargehand role in a production or manufacturing environment, ideally with team leadership responsibilities.
