The Role
We are seeking a Project Engineer to join a specialist engineering team working on the design and development of superconducting magnet systems and cryogenic refrigeration technology. This role combines engineering design, applied physics, and project management, giving you the opportunity to work on highly technical systems used by some of the world’s leading research organisations. You will be responsible for taking projects from concept and design through to manufacturing, testing, and installation, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Design superconducting magnet and cryogenic refrigeration systems
- Manage technical projects, timelines, and budgets
- Work closely with customers to understand technical requirements
- Translate customer requirements into manufacturing specifications
- Use CAD, finite element modelling, and engineering analysis tools
- Support system testing and validation
- Liaise with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production
- Participate in customer visits and system installation when required
Essential Requirements for the Project Engineer
- Degree in Physics or closely related discipline
- PHD would be to your advantage
- Strong understanding of both theoretical and practical physics
- Ability to apply scientific principles to engineering design
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage technical projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
