We are recruiting for a very experienced Mechanical Fitter based in Croydon- CR0. This busy workshop is all about drive components and high-value mechanical equipment. You’ll be working on overhaul cells dedicated to different product types, getting stuck into equipment used across: Rail, Marine, Power, Oil & Gas.
As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll handle the full journey of complex units – strip down, inspection, survey, rebuild and test. Think gearboxes, rail transmissions, fluid couplings, cooling systems, couplers and marine products. With workshop demand growing fast, now’s the perfect time to jump on board.

What you’ll be doing as a Mechanical Fitter:
- Overhauling mechanical equipment in a workshop environment
- Mechanical fitting, assembly, strip, survey and testing
- Reading drawings and working to tight tolerances using calipers & micrometers
- Maintaining top-quality standards and efficiency
- Supporting testing, basic wiring and flexible workshop tasks
- Completing technical documentation as work progresses
- Keeping housekeeping and health & safety sharp and compliant
What we’re looking for in a Mechanical Fitter:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in an engineering workshop environment
- Background with rotating equipment strongly preferred
- Ability to work to ISO9001 and RISAS quality standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to adjust to changing work demands
- Apprentice-trained ideal, but relevant mechanical engineering qualifications accepted
- Knowledge of Risk Assessments & COSHH (advantageous)
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing / 5S is a bonus
- A flexible, hands-on attitude and willingness to learn
