  • Mon–Thurs: 07:00–15:00

We are currently seeking a Junior Workshop Mechanical Fitter to join a busy engineering workshop specialising in the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of mechanical equipment used across rail, marine, power, and industrial sectors. This role offers a stable working environment, varied technical work, and opportunities to develop skills across a wide range of rotating and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strip, inspect, survey, assemble, and test mechanical systems including gearboxes, fluid couplings, pumps, transmissions, couplers, and cooling units
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to support assembly and fault finding
  • Work to precise tolerances using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers
  • Apply correct assembly techniques including torque tightening and shrink fitting
  • Complete technical documentation accurately as work progresses
  • Maintain quality standards, efficiency, and safe working practices
  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks within the workshop cell
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ mechanical fitting experience, ideally working with rotating equipment
  • Apprentice-trained or relevant mechanical qualification preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience in an engineering environment
  • Ability to work accurately, independently, and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of safety procedures, risk assessments, and COSHH is advantageous
  • Good communication skills and willingness to learn new skills
