The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.

The purpose of this role is to ensure Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) have accurate and reliable information about the Customer Experience of their 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks for voice, data and other services operated over the networks.

We are seeking a skilled Drive Tester with strong knowledge of telecom networks and hands-on experience using Accuver XCAL tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field measurements, logging network performance, and supporting post-processing and analysis for optimization and troubleshooting activities.

Note: Successful applicants will be employed as contractors.The vehicle & test equipment are provided.There is a fuel card and we will book hotels as necessary.Successful applicants can claim up to £25 per day for food when staying away from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mobile network drive tests for 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G NR using Accuver XCAL and PCTel scanners
  • Create scripts using XCAL and XCAL Mobile
  • Execute predefined test routes, including stationary, indoor, and special scenario testing.
  • Collect and log Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as signal strength, throughput, latency, and call success rates.
  • Perform eSIM/physical SIM test configurations, network forcing, and band/RAT locking when required.
  • Ensure correct device setup, calibration, and software configuration before each test.
  • Monitor live logs for anomalies, call drops, or coverage gaps during testing.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of testing equipment, smartphones, scanners, and GPS units.
  • Upload, backup, and organize collected log files after each test session.
  • Collaborate with RF engineers for data post-processing, analysis, and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate records of drive routes, test cases, and test results.
  • Comply with health, safety, and security protocols during field operations.

Project Specific Responsibilities:

· Responsible for the delivery of data collection of a number of programme work streams.

oThe role holder is responsible for all Voice testing programmes.

oThe role holder is responsible for all Data testing programmes.

· The role holder will have the knowledge, tools and skills to cover all data collection work streams as needed.

· Ensure the data collection is in line with the specifications in place.

· Follow all work instructions.Raising any issues or concerns at the earliest opportunity

· Complete all appropriate driver training as per company policy.

· Responsible for providing the project with valid voice information, highlighting any issues that may have impacted performance.

· Escalate issues that need resolving by support teams.Raise cases via appropriate Fault Management Process.

· Provide operational equipment monitoring and 1st line support for other project resources.

· Manage day to day operational issues.

· Acceptance of any test kit that has been worked on by support.

· Vehicle management; damage checks, accident repair and maintenance.

· Attend daily meeting with all drivers

· Excellent knowledge of EXCEL is required

Skills & Requirements:

· A good knowledge of Accuver XCAL is a must, will need to create scripts and carry out tests using multiple phones and a scanner

· Basic computer literacy is essential; including a good knowledge of Microsoft and windows applications and use of satellite navigation systems.

· A good knowledge of UK geography and communication routes.

· Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Be physically fit.Where walk testing is required, test equipment is in back packs.

· Flexibility is required along with the ability to adapt to changing testing requirements at short notice.

· Ability to document test result accurately and concisely.

· The ability to work independently, to understand and follow verbal and written work instructions.

· A can do and positive attitude in your approach, appearance, attendance and response to picking up new and changing work practices.

· Working away from home is a key requirement and there are also opportunities for two weeks away from the office on some occasions. Occasional weekend work is available, especially during the summer months.
