We are seeking an experienced Reporting & Data Visualisation Specialist to lead the creation of high-impact, insight-driven reports for mobile telecoms customer experience benchmarking. This role sits at the intersection of telecoms performance data, business storytelling, and visual design excellence. You will transform complex datasets (drive testing, walk testing, crowdsourced and network KPIs) into clear, compelling narratives tailored for audiences ranging from C-suite executives to project managers and radio/network engineers. This is not an entry-level or train-up role. You must already understand both:

  • Mobile telecoms performance metrics, and
  • How to design reports that drive decisions at different business levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Insight & Reporting
    • Design and deliver best-in-class dashboards, reports, and presentations that clearly communicate customer experience performance and competitive benchmarks.
    • Translate large, complex datasets into actionable insights, not just charts.
    • Tailor reporting outputs to distinct audiences:
      • C-suite – concise, outcome-focused, strategic narratives
      • Programme / Project Managers – trend analysis, KPIs, delivery risks
      • Technical / RF Engineering teams – detailed performance metrics, root-cause indicators
    • Ensure reports highlight “so what?” and “what should be done next?”, not just raw results.
  • Data Analysis & Engineering
    • Query, transform and validate data using Microsoft SQL Server / SQL Management Studio.
    • Work confidently with large, complex datasets (millions of records).
    • Prepare analytical datasets for use in Tableau, Excel, and downstream reporting tools.
    • Maintain data integrity, consistency, and traceability from source to output.
  • Visual Design & Storytelling
    • Build visually striking but functionally correct dashboards and reports.
    • Apply strong data visualisation principles (hierarchy, contrast, clarity, cognitive load).
    • Design reports that are intuitive for non-technical stakeholders without oversimplifying technical meaning.
    • Police bad charts, misleading metrics, and unnecessary complexity.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Work directly with technical teams, analysts, and programme leads to understand context and requirements.
    • Proactively challenge vague or unfocused reporting requests and propose better alternatives.
    • Act as a trusted expert on how performance data should be presented.

Essential Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • Telecoms Domain Experience
    • Proven experience working with mobile telecoms performance or customer experience data, such as:
      • Drive testing / walk testing
      • Crowdsourced CX data
      • KPI benchmarking between mobile operators
    • Strong understanding of metrics such as:
      • Coverage, signal quality (e.g. RSRP/RSRQ/SINR)
      • Throughput, latency, packet loss
      • Call setup success, call retainability, data session success
    • Ability to interpret performance outcomes in real-world customer terms.
  • Reporting & Visualisation Expertise
    • Advanced experience with Tableau (or equivalent enterprise BI tool).
    • Strong command of Microsoft Excel (power user level: complex formulas, pivots, structured models).
    • Demonstrated ability to design executive-quality dashboards and reports.
    • Clear understanding of functional design principles, not just aesthetics.
  • Data & Technical Skills
    • Strong SQL skills using Microsoft SQL Server / SSMS.
    • Comfortable handling large datasets and complex joins.
    • Ability to independently troubleshoot data quality issues.
  • Professional Maturity
    • Able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
    • Comfortable making design and analytical decisions without detailed instruction.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desirable (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with benchmarking studies or third-party performance comparisons.
  • Exposure to RF engineering concepts or network performance analysis.
  • Experience producing client-facing or board-level deliverables.
  • Knowledge of additional data tools (Python, Power BI, Alteryx, etc.).

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Senior stakeholders can understand network and customer experience performance in minutes, not hours.
  • Engineers trust the data because it is technically accurate and transparently derived.
  • Reports no longer need “explaining” — the story is clear on first view.
  • Visuals are reused in executive meetings, not rebuilt every time.
  • You are the go-to person for “how should we show this?”

What This Role Is Not

  • Not a junior analyst role
  • Not a generic BI developer position
  • Not a “learn telecoms on the job” opportunity

If you don’t already understand both mobile telecoms performance and executive-level reporting design, this role will not be a good fit.

Application Process

  • Applicants should be prepared to discuss:
    • Examples of telecoms-related dashboards or reports they have created
    • How they adapt reporting for different stakeholder levels
    • Their approach to turning raw performance data into decision-ready insight
  • Portfolio examples are highly encouraged.
