Role purpose
To efficiently receive, store, pick, pack and ship goods while maintaining accurate inventory and adhering to health and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Receiving & Unloading: Take delivery of shipments, inspect goods for damage, and verify quantities against delivery notes.
- Stock Management: Store items in designated locations, conduct regular stock checks, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Picking & Packing: Select products from shelves or racks (often using scanners or voice technology), then pack and label items for dispatch.
- Loading: Move outbound shipments securely onto transport vehicles.
- Health & Safety: Operate material handling equipment and ensure strict compliance with health and safety regulations; use appropriate PPE and report any hazards.
Requirements
- Experience in a warehouse or distribution environment (desirable).
- Familiarity with scanners, voice-picking systems, and basic warehouse software.
- Ability to lift and move stock safely; capability to operate material handling equipment.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational and time-management skills.
- Flexible to work shifts, including weekends or evenings if required.
Skills and qualifications (desirable)
- Counterbalance or other forklift licence (where applicable).
- Basic knowledge of inventory control and cycle counting.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
