The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of warehouse and yard activities. This role will lead the warehouse team to ensure effective loading and unloading of LGV vehicles, accurate freight handling, and full compliance with health and safety standards. The Warehouse Supervisor will ensure operational efficiency across all warehouse processes, including palletised freight handling, weight distribution management, and compliance with Palletline procedures. The role requires strong leadership, operational awareness, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, supervise, and support the warehouse team to ensure operational targets and service standards are achieved.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management to ensure team development and compliance with company standards.
- Promote a strong health and safety culture across the warehouse and yard environment.
- Ensure effective communication between the warehouse, transport, and operational teams.
- Operational Oversight
- Oversee the loading and unloading of HGV vehicles, ensuring correct weight distribution and load security.
- Ensure freight is accurately scanned and verified against delivery manifests and pallet tracking systems.
- Ensure palletised freight is handled and stored in accordance with Palletline procedures and company processes.
- Monitor daily warehouse activities to ensure operational deadlines and service-level agreements are met.
- Maintain warehouse and yard cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure team members complete daily forklift pre-use checks and report any mechanical defects or safety concerns immediately.
- Maintain full compliance with company PPE requirements and safe working practices.
- Take responsibility for health and safety awareness across all warehouse activities.
- Ensure all incidents, hazards, and near misses are promptly reported and investigated.
- Work closely with the Compliance Manager to maintain regulatory and company compliance standards.
- Equipment & Systems Management
- Oversee safe and effective use of Material Handling Equipment, including counterbalance forklifts.
- Ensure warehouse scanning systems and freight tracking technology are used accurately and consistently.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of warehouse procedures and operational systems.
- PC literate and ideally have experience with WMS “Mintsoft” and VIGO/ Condrado.
- Operational Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with transport, operations, and compliance teams to support smooth inbound and outbound freight movement.
- Assist with planning and workload management during peak operational periods.
- Support flexible operational requirements, including early, late, and weekend working when required.
Key Requirements
- Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence (RTITB or ITSSAR accredited) – preferred.
- Ideally, hold a class one licence.
- Proven experience in managing/ overseeing the loading and unloading of HGV vehicles within a fast-paced warehouse environment and loading/ unloading double-deck trailers.
- Strong understanding of vehicle weight distribution and load securing techniques.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience within a warehouse or logistics operation.
- Strong attention to detail when verifying freight against manifests and scanning systems.
- High level of health and safety awareness, including PPE compliance and manual handling best practice.
- Physically capable of working within a demanding operational environment.
- Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends and overtime where required.
- Confident in identifying and reporting safety concerns while promoting a positive safety culture.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience working with Palletline or similar pallet network operations.
- Familiarity with warehouse scanning devices and logistics IT systems.
- Knowledge of forklift maintenance procedures and manual handling best practices.
