We are partnering with a well-funded mobile games company to appoint a Lead VFX Artist.

The company is developing an ambitious new mobile game based on a globally recognised IP.

The Lead VFX Artist will lead a team of 5 VFX Artists and take ownership of the game’s real-time visual effects, helping define the visual quality and style of VFX across the project while working closely with Art, Design and Engineering. The ideal candidate will be an experienced VFX artist with a strong background in games, combining creative flair with a solid understanding of real-time production and performance constraints.

Responsibilities

- Lead a team of 5 VFX Artists, providing them with guidance, mentorship and direction.
- Define and deliver high-quality real-time VFX across gameplay, environments and characters.
- Establish the visual style, quality bar and best practices for VFX across the project.
- Collaborate closely with Art, Design and Engineering to ensure effects support gameplay and the wider visual direction.
- Provide guidance and feedback to other artists and contribute to the development of efficient VFX pipelines and workflows.

Requirements
\n

- Strong experience creating real-time VFX for games.
- Excellent understanding of particles, shaders, materials, animation and other real-time VFX techniques.
- Experience working with modern game engines.
- Strong artistic judgement, with the ability to balance visual quality, gameplay clarity and technical performance.
- Experience leading or mentoring other VFX artists is highly desirable.
