Teaching and Learning Practitioner Grade 6 – Reception Class
32.5 hours per week, term time only

Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality support for care, learning and education of young children.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum and child development.
- Offer high-quality support for play (indoors and outdoors) to encourage independence and a love of learning.
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere, promoting the prime areas of learning (PSED, CL, PD).
- Support young children to manage their emotions and develop their behaviour for learning in school.
- Support SEMH and SEN behaviours using a range of de-escalation strategies; follow Team Teach approaches where appropriate.
- Complete Team Teach training or be willing to undertake training.
- Be motivated, enthusiastic, friendly and adaptable.
- Experience or knowledge of the Little Wandle phonics programme is preferable; training will be offered.
- Ability to teach Little Wandle phonics, Early Years Talk Boost; use the WellComm screen toolkit and promote early language development.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality teaching, learning and play experiences.
- Maintain good interpersonal skills; communicate effectively with children, colleagues and parents/carers.
- Develop strong nurturing relationships and make a positive difference to children’s lives.
Qualifications and experience
- An approved Early Years qualification as defined by the Department for Education in the Early Years Qualification Requirements and Standards.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification (required within three months of starting) for staff at level 2 or level 3 to meet staff:child ratios.
- Experience working in mainstream Reception settings and supporting SEN children.
- Team Teach training or willingness to complete training.
- Knowledge or experience of the EYFS and child development; ability to support early language development and phonics.
