MNK Group is seeking a highly experienced and technically strong Head of Group Risk & Internal Control to lead the design, implementation, and embedding of a comprehensive Internal Control Framework across the organisation. This senior second-line role carries full accountability for ensuring that risks are identified, assessed, controlled, monitored, and reported in a consistent and effective manner. The position requires a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on delivery, with deep expertise in operational risk, internal controls, regulatory expectations, and first-line capability uplift. The successful candidate will act as the Group’s subject matter expert on internal controls and operational risk.

Responsibilities

  • Enterprise Risk Management
    • Own and enhance the Group Enterprise Risk Management Framework
    • Lead the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process
    • Provide second-line challenge and oversight
    • Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and thematic reviews
    • Lead emerging risk identification and horizon scanning
    • Support stress testing and scenario analysis
  • Internal Control Framework
    • Design, implement, and maintain the Group Internal Control Framework
    • Define control standards, taxonomies, and documentation requirements
    • Lead the roll-out and embedding of the framework across all jurisdictions
    • Oversee control design and operating effectiveness testing
    • Drive remediation and continuous improvement
    • Serve as the Group’s technical authority on internal controls
  • GRC Systems
    • Own configuration and enhancement of the Group GRC platform
    • Ensure integration of ERMF and ICF components
    • Drive adoption through training and support
    • Maintain data quality and consistency
  • Training & Culture
    • Develop and deliver training on internal controls and operational risk
    • Produce guidance materials, playbooks, and methodology documents
    • Lead workshops and capability-building sessions
    • Embed a strong risk and control culture across the Group
  • Governance & Reporting
    • Prepare high-quality MI for Boards, Committees, and Senior Management
    • Maintain governance calendars and track actions
    • Support Board education and wider governance initiatives
  • Regulatory Engagement
    • Monitor regulatory developments across relevant jurisdictions
    • Assess regulatory impacts and communicate to senior stakeholders
    • Support regulatory reviews, audits, and interactions
  • Leadership
    • Act as a senior leader within the Risk, Regulation & Governance function
    • Mentor and develop junior team members
    • Build strong relationships with first-line and executive stakeholders

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential
    • Great exposure in risk management and internal controls within regulated financial services or (re)insurance
    • Proven experience designing and embedding Internal Control Frameworks
    • Strong technical knowledge of operational risk and control best practice
    • Experience leading large-scale roll-outs and training programmes
    • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Desirable
    • Professional qualifications such as ACII, IRM, or equivalent
    • Experience engaging with regulators
    • Hands-on experience with GRC systems
