About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Painter & Decorator to join our social housing maintenance team covering properties across Manchester. This role focuses on delivering high-quality internal and external painting, decorating, and finishing works in occupied and void domestic properties. You'll play an essential part in maintaining homes to a safe, comfortable, and modern standard for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive painting and decorating tasks across social housing stock.
- Prepare surfaces including sanding, filling, patch repairs, and sealant work.
- Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper, and protective coatings to walls, ceilings, woodwork, and other surfaces.
- Complete responsive maintenance tasks following tenant reports or scheduled refurbishment works.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times.
- Work efficiently in both occupied and void properties with sensitivity to residents' needs.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard, following health and safety regulations.
- Accurately record work completed using mobile devices or job sheets.
- Communicate professionally with tenants, supervisors, and team members.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator - preferably within social housing or domestic settings.
- Strong knowledge of surface preparation, paint systems, and application methods.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Good customer service and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence (company van supplied).
- NVQ Level 2 in Painting & Decorating or City & Guilds.
- Basic understanding of health and safety in residential environments.
