MMP Consultancy is seeking an experienced Building Safety Manager on behalf of a Local Authority in South London. This is a 6-month contract with a day rate of £450pd inside of IR35, with 2 days office presence required. This role will focus on managing building safety across Higher-Risk Buildings, ensuring full compliance with relevant legislation, and maintaining robust safety case documentation. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in developing and managing Building Safety Case Reports, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, engaging with residents and stakeholders, and driving continuous improvements in safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the operational management of building safety across designated HRBs
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Develop, maintain, and review Building Safety Cases and Building Safety Case Reports
- Coordinate inspections, audits, and risk assessments related to building and fire safety
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to identify and mitigate safety risks
- Develop and implement building safety management systems and procedures
- Engage with residents, providing clear and accessible safety information
- Oversee both minor safety improvements and major building safety works programmes
- Act as a key liaison with the Building Safety Regulator and London Fire Brigade
- Provide professional advice to colleagues and support wider compliance initiatives
Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Understanding of Building Safety Case principles, building control processes, and resident engagement requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in fire/building safety or housing compliance
- Proven experience managing Building Safety Case Reports and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to engage confidently with residents, stakeholders, and operational teams
- Experience mentoring staff and promoting a positive compliance culture
- CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (or working towards)
- Ongoing professional development and eligibility for relevant professional memberships (e.g. CIOB, IOSH, IFE, RICS)
