MMP Consultancy is looking to recruit a Head of Communications & Marketing on a permanent basis in Kent. This role leads the strategic direction and delivery of all communications, marketing, and brand activities across the organization. It ensures our voice is clear, consistent, and compelling, both internally and externally, supporting strategic objectives, enhancing reputation locally and nationally, and deepening engagement with residents, stakeholders, and the public.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of our multi-channel communications and marketing strategy.
  • Lead all strategic and campaign planning, delivery, and evaluation for communications and marketing.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Executive Team and Board on reputation management, crisis communications, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Guard the organization’s corporate image and branding, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and guidelines such as Written Communications and Social Media policies.
  • Manage the organization’s reputation through proactive promotion of values and vision, and reactive handling of adverse media or social media coverage.
  • Lead crisis communications and issues management, including managing out-of-hours communications rotas.
  • Ensure appropriate on-call rotas are in place and participate as needed.
  • Oversee digital communication platforms, including website, intranet, and social media channels, as the lead business owner.
  • Manage external communications to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and accessible messaging.
  • Lead and oversee award submissions and large-scale events.
  • Support senior management with profile raising and media opportunities.
  • Procure external expertise, manage contracts, and maintain relationships with external partners, ensuring value for money and alignment with organizational values.
  • Support channel shift objectives by digitalizing and segmenting communication channels for residents and customers.
  • Lead the communication strategy for change initiatives.

Experience Required:

  • Significant experience in senior communications or marketing leadership within a complex organization, preferably in housing or a similar environment.
  • Ability to self-manage and prioritize under pressure.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing long-term, integrated strategies collaboratively.
  • Strong crisis communications and media handling skills.
  • Ability to build rapport, collaborate, and influence across all organizational levels, inspiring others in communication and engagement efforts.
  • Experience participating in senior management arrangements.
  • Deep understanding of digital communications, audience engagement, and technical support for channel shift objectives.
  • Proficiency in website/intranet system design, content management systems, and social media management.
  • Excellent written communication skills, capable of producing clear and engaging content for diverse audiences and platforms.
  • Experience in procurement, managing external contractors/partners, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Experience providing consultancy or coaching to develop others’ capacities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Successful leadership experience in inspiring and empowering diverse teams, including leading through change.
  • Experience in performance management and data-driven service improvement.
