MMP Consultancy is seeking a Director of Planning and Regeneration on behalf of a local authority in South West London/Surrey. This is a 6-month ongoing contract with a day rate of £800 inside of IR35. Candidates can expect to work 3 - 4 days per week, with the minimum expectation of office presence being 2-3 days per week. Flexibility is key.
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for shaping place, driving regeneration and delivering sustainable growth across the borough, overseeing:
- Strategic Planning and the Local Plan
- Development Management and Planning Enforcement
- Building Control
- Regeneration and town centre renewal
- Economic Development, including skills, employment and business growth
The successful candidate will lead around 50 staff, manage a £3.5m revenue budget and oversee a capital programme of c. £10m, working closely with residents, developers, partners and elected members to deliver high-quality, inclusive and design-led development.
Requirements:
- Senior leadership experience in planning, regeneration, place-making or economic development
- A strong track record of delivering complex programmes within a large organisation
- Experience of working at pace in a political environment
- A collaborative, partnership-driven approach with a focus on community outcomes
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and customer-focused services
- A relevant degree (or equivalent experience) is essential, with professional membership (e.g. RTPI) desirable
