Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

  • Make decisions on assessments in line with the BSR competency framework and within the limits of your professional registration.

  • Exercise delegated powers under the Building Act 1984, within your level of competence.
  • Manage a portfolio of developments, including:
  • New applications
  • Regularisation applications
  • Reversion applications
  • Maintain accurate records for plan appraisals, site inspections, and remedial actions.
  • Inspect domestic projects to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and technical standards.
  • Manage a caseload including non-domestic low-risk buildings and dangerous structures.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours rota (with supervision as required).
  • Carry out enforcement or remedial actions under the guidance of a more senior/validated surveyor.
  • Work flexibly in response to changing workloads, including early starts or extended hours when necessary.
