This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its statutory obligations across building safety and compliance, while delivering safe homes and services for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Building Safety & Compliance function across the organisation.
- Oversee compliance programmes including Fire, Gas, Electrical, Asbestos, Water Hygiene, and Lift Safety.
- Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act, and all relevant legislation.
- Manage compliance contractors, remedial works, and major service contracts.
- Lead relationships with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.
- Manage budgets, procurement activities, and contract performance.
- Drive continuous improvement and maintain a strong compliance culture.
Essential Requirements
- Senior leadership experience within Housing, Property, Asset Management, or a related sector.
- Strong knowledge of building safety, fire safety, and statutory compliance.
- Detailed understanding of the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act.
- Experience managing large-scale compliance programmes and contractors.
- Proven track record of regulatory engagement and audit readiness.
- Strong stakeholder management, leadership, and communication skills.
Desirable
- Professional membership such as CMIOSH, MCIOB, MRICS, MIFSM, or IWFM.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, Property, or Health & Safety.
- Experience within the Social Housing sector.
