The Repairs Planner will work closely with the Maintenance Team to ensure that all repairs and maintenance work is carried out in a timely and efficient manner. The successful candidate must have excellent organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise workloads. You will liaise with residents and contractors to ensure that all works are completed to a high standard.
Responsibilities
- Manage Operatives diaries.
- Plan repairs works for pre and post inspection, reactive and emergency repairs.
- Prioritise emergency works.
- Book appointments and allocate works to the available operatives and follow the works from start through to completion.
- Ensure all relevant data is updated on a timely basis.
- Liaise with tenants and Operatives to arrange repairs.
- Effectively communicate any concerns about work quality and ensure operatives have the right material to complete their work.
- Take part in meetings, supervision, training as requested by the manager.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Previous experience of working with a Housing Association / Local Authority or contractor in either a Planning, Scheduling or Customer Service capacity.
- Excellent communicator, with strong organisational skills.
- GCSEs at Grade C or above and including Mathematics and English.
- Proficient IT skills including use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Proven background in a customer service focused environment.
- Experience of using database systems (Connect / Northgate / DRS).
- Construction related knowledge; proven experience in damp and mould treatment (painting experience desirable).
- Basic DBS.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Asbestos Awareness certification.
- Strong communication and customer service skills; experience in social housing or residential maintenance.
- Strong plumbing background with multi‑trade skills.
- Own tools and ability to use a smartphone app.
- A drug and alcohol test will be carried out on the day of induction.
- Strong carpentry background with multi‑trade skills.
- Proven experience as a Damp Surveyor or in a similar property surveying role.
- Strong knowledge of mould types, causes and impacts on residents.
- Good scientific and technical understanding of damp and condensation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workloads.
- Experience managing external contractors and resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Senior leadership experience in planning, regeneration, place‑making or economic development.
- Strong track record of delivering complex programmes within a large organisation.
- Experience of working at pace in a political environment.
- Collaborative, partnership‑driven approach with a focus on community outcomes.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, sustainability and customer‑focused services.
- A relevant degree (or equivalent experience) is essential, with professional membership (e.g. RTPI) desirable.
- Experience of data analysis and process management.
- Proven project management or contract experience.
- Ability to communicate and influence contractors, colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Detailed knowledge of using a variety of JCT and partnering contracts.
- Proven influencing and negotiating skills to resolve problems.
- Sound judgement and prioritisation skills.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines, under pressure and deliver projects on time, within budget to the required standard.
- Knowledge of regulatory legislation for social housing.
