MMP Consultancy are currently seeking a Fire and Health and Safety Technical Lead for a Public Sector housing organisation. Interim contract paying circa £450 per day.
Job Details
- Rate: £450 per day
- Contract Length: 6 months
- Location: South London
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days a week on-site, with flexibility for remote work.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of construction types, fire performance of materials, compartmentation, and external wall systems
- Strong understanding of fire protection systems including alarms, sprinklers, AOVs, and signage
- Proven experience in statutory compliance, audits, and monitoring of fire safety standards
- Demonstrated ability to oversee fire safety projects, manage contractors, and ensure quality assurance
- Commitment to ongoing professional development in fire safety principles
- Comprehensive knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and legislative frameworks
- Experience complying with regulatory frameworks such as the Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022
- Experience working with Fire and Rescue Services and supporting Building Safety Cases
- Strong leadership skills in emergency situations and team management
- Experience with resident engagement strategies related to fire safety
- Knowledge of digital Golden Thread information and Building Safety Case development
- Familiarity with high-rise and complex construction projects
- Strong communication skills for stakeholder and community engagement
Preferred Education and Experience
- Hold relevant qualifications such as Fire Safety Level 4, CIOB Diploma in Building Safety Management, or recognition by professional bodies like IFE, IFSM, or IOSH
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in fire safety, building safety management, or a related field
- Extensive background in fire safety within housing, construction, or maintenance sectors
- Proven track record leading fire safety initiatives and compliance programs
- Additional certifications in CDM 2015, fire door, and compartmentation awareness are advantageous

- Strong understanding of construction processes and capital works.
- Excellent commercial awareness and cost-management capability.
- Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Highly organised, accurate, and able to work to deadlines in a busy environment.
- Experience supporting sustainability and Net Zero Carbon strategies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; skilled in using project management and reporting systems.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to react quickly to dynamic project issues.
- Familiarity with HHSRS monitoring processes.
- Knowledge of contract management and invoicing procedures.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and communication.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in building safety, fire safety, or a related field.
- Experience working in a regulatory or enforcement role.
