MMP are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Health & Safety / Compliance to lead the organisation's health, safety and compliance agenda.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for ensuring the charity remains fully compliant with all relevant legislation, statutory obligations and regulatory requirements while fostering a positive culture of safety across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of health, safety and compliance across the organisation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and industry best practice.
- Develop and implement health and safety strategies, policies and procedures.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to senior leaders, managers and colleagues.
- Present regular compliance and health & safety reports to the Executive Team and Board.
- Lead on risk management, including general and fire risk assessments.
- Monitor legislative developments, including building safety and housing sector regulations.
- Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Oversee business continuity and emergency response processes.
- Manage health and safety training programmes and ensure mandatory training compliance.
- Build relationships with external organisations to identify emerging trends and best practice.
- Manage an annual departmental budget of approximately £500,000.
Essential
- NEBOSH and/or IOSH qualification.
- Extensive knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.
- Knowledge of housing regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Understanding of the Fire Safety Act 2021 and Building Safety legislation.
- Experience delivering health and safety management at a senior level.
- Experience developing and implementing health and safety strategies and policies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels.
- Excellent communication, presentation and report-writing skills.
- Strong planning, organisational and analytical abilities.
Desirable
- Experience within the housing, social housing, charity or regulated sectors.
- Contractor management experience.
