An established and growing construction company is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join its team in Derry. This is a senior, client-facing position requiring someone who can manage the complete estimating and tendering process—from initial enquiry and tender review through to final submission, client presentation and handover to the delivery team.
Key responsibilities:
- Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and contract requirements
- Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates
- Produce detailed bills of quantities and tender submissions
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value-engineering options
- Work closely with directors, commercial teams, project managers and site teams
- Attend pre-tender interviews, clarification meetings and commercial negotiations
- Present and clearly explain company proposals directly to clients
- Maintain strong professional relationships with clients and supply-chain partners
- Support the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team
Essential requirements:
- Significant estimating experience within the construction or civil engineering sector
- Proven experience managing tenders from initial enquiry through to client submission
- Strong client-facing experience, representing the company professionally in meetings, presentations and negotiations
- Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials, labour and commercial pricing
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and contractual documents
- Strong numerical, analytical, communication and negotiation skills
- Competence with estimating software and Microsoft Office
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness and availability to travel regularly throughout the UK
