Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site CNC Turner/Programmer role based at the Redditch machining plant. The role involves setting, operating, and programming CNC turning machines with live tooling to produce components ranging from 2mm to 65mm diameter in batch sizes from small to high volume. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, creating and adjusting CNC programs, and monitoring machining processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The CNC Turner/Programmer will inspect components to meet ISO 9001:2015 standards, complete production documentation, and collaborate with the team to optimize workflows and resolve machining issues. The role also includes routine maintenance of machines, adherence to health and safety procedures, and continuous improvement of machining methods.
Qualifications
- Strong CNC turning skills, including setting, operating, and programming CNC lathes with live tooling.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and measurement data.
- Competence in using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges) for quality inspection.
- Experience working to ISO 9001 or similar quality standards and completing production and inspection documentation.
- Background in machining components for sectors such as automotive, hydraulic, pneumatic, or similar engineering industries.
- Solid understanding of materials (e.g., steels, alloys) and cutting parameters for efficient and accurate machining.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and correct machining issues and program errors.
- Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment, following health and safety policies and maintaining a clean workstation.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a small, family-run team.
- Relevant apprenticeship or vocational qualification in CNC machining, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, or equivalent practical experience.
