ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently looking for a dedicated and ambitious Business Development and Membership Executive to join our team at Inverclyde Chamber of Commerce. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with businesses and stakeholders throughout Inverclyde and beyond.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
MEMBERSHIP
- Identifying and acting on opportunities to introduce members to one another where possible, be it either in-person or via email.
- Prospecting and converting interested businesses and organisations into members of the Chamber.
- Working to retain our membership through consistent engagement and improvement/enhancement of our membership offering.
- Maintaining updated and accurate membership records with relevant information.
- Collaborating with our Events and Marketing Executive as and when required to plan and deliver regular events to our members.
- Promoting and attending events among existing and potential members and stakeholders.
- Surveying members to understand what their expectations are in terms of events, membership offering, etc.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
- Prospecting and securing sponsors for our keystone events, our ICON Business Awards, and overall chamber activities to generate revenue.
- Identifying and securing additional opportunities which will increase the overall revenue of the Chamber to deliver value for our members and partners.
- Contributing to event suggestions to improve these for the benefit of all members.
- Liaising with our Finance Director where necessary to ensure smooth financial operations and payments by debtors.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Regularly updating the Chamber’s board of directors and external stakeholders and partners on our activities.
- Keeping a systematic record of activity throughout the month for project management and task tracking.
- Managing your own workload and task stream.
- Engaging in forums with external stakeholders, e.g., Inverclyde Local Employability Partnership.
- Corresponding with external stakeholders to communicate issues and opportunities on behalf of the Chamber.
- Collaborating with the Chamber’s board of directors to respond to relevant consultations being run by external stakeholders and partners, when necessary.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
- Understanding and experience of event planning.
- Ability to multitask and manage workload effectively.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to self-manage.
DESIRABLE
- Experience in responding to public sector consultations.
- Awareness of ongoing political, legal, and regulatory changes across industries and the Scottish and UK economies.
- Previous experience in membership management or a similar role would be advantageous but not essential.
