Accounts Junior
Salary: £30,000–£35,000, depending on experience
Location: North London
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–5:30 pm
Working arrangement: Predominantly office-based, with some flexibility to work from home when required
Parking: On-site parking available
We are recruiting for an Accounts Junior to join a well-established, medium-sized accountancy practice based in North London.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with approximately two years’ experience in an accountancy practice who is looking to develop their skills within a friendly, supportive and professional team.
You will work with a varied portfolio of clients across a range of sectors, gaining further experience in accounts preparation, VAT returns, bookkeeping and client communication. The role offers plenty of variety, as well as excellent opportunities for career development and progression.
Key responsibilities
- Assisting with accounts preparation for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Producing accounts to review stage
- Assisting with preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Assisting with bookkeeping and maintaining accurate client records
- Communicating with clients by telephone and email
- Responding to day-to-day client queries
- Liaising with HMRC when required
- Ensuring work is completed accurately and within relevant deadlines
- Supporting senior accountants and managers with additional client work
About you
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Approximately two years’ experience working in an accountancy practice
- Some previous experience assisting with preparing accounts to review stage
- Experience completing VAT returns
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience using CaseWare would be advantageous
- Excellent attention to detail
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Confidence communicating with clients
- The ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
A relevant accountancy qualification, or progress towards AAT, ACCA or ACA, would be advantageous but is not essential where the candidate has suitable practice experience.
