We are currently recruiting an Additional Learning Needs (ALN) Teaching Assistant to work within a primary school in Newport. This is a rewarding opportunity for a caring and committed individual who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs in a primary setting.
The Role
- You will be supporting pupils with a range of ALN, which may include ASD, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, or learning difficulties.
- Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored support to pupils with Additional Learning Needs
- Assist with learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Support behaviour management in line with school policies
- Work closely with class teachers and the ALNCo
- Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
- Experience supporting children with ALN (school-based or similar setting)
- A patient, calm, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting pupils' development
- Relevant ALN or education qualifications are desirable but not essential
