About the Role

M&M Supply is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a progressive Multi Academy Trust for an experienced Senior Principal to provide strategic and operational leadership across Alternative Provision (AP) settings in Devon. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an ambitious education professional with a strong background in school improvement, safeguarding, and inclusion, particularly within SEN and SEMH environments. You will oversee multiple academies, ensuring high standards of education, safeguarding, leadership, and compliance, while driving continuous improvement and positive outcomes for vulnerable learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Regional Oversight
    • Provide leadership and line management to Regional Academy Leaders
    • Act as the key link between academies and the Executive Team
    • Drive delivery of Trust-wide strategy, improvement plans, and priorities
    • Ensure consistent implementation of policies, values, and operational frameworks
    • Support governance, accountability, and effective partnership working
  • Quality of Education & School Improvement
    • Lead high-quality teaching, learning, and curriculum development across settings
    • Use data and evidence-informed practice to improve outcomes
    • Ensure strong literacy and reading strategies are embedded
    • Drive ambitious, inclusive curriculum delivery aligned to statutory requirements, including promoting professional development and innovation in teaching
  • Inclusion, SEN & SEMH
    • Champion inclusive education for pupils with SEND, SEMH, and additional needs
    • Lead behaviour, attendance, and pastoral systems that are trauma-informed
    • Ensure early identification and effective intervention strategies, leading to building strong partnerships with families, local authorities, and external agencies
  • Safeguarding & Compliance
    • Maintain robust safeguarding and child protection practices across all sites, promoting a strong safeguarding culture aligned with statutory requirements
    • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted, health & safety, and data protection standards
  • Leadership & Staff Development
    • Lead and develop senior leadership teams and wider staff, driving performance management, appraisal, and talent development
    • Promote staff wellbeing and a positive organisational culture
  • Finance & Operations
    • Oversee effective budget management and resource allocation
    • Ensure value for money and financial sustainability
    • Maintain safe, high-quality learning environments across all sites

Key Skills & Experience

  • Essential:
    • Significant senior leadership experience in education with a proven track record of school improvement and raising attainment
    • Strong experience supporting SEN, SEMH, and vulnerable learners
    • Experience leading teaching, curriculum, and assessment development
    • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
    • Experience working with governance structures and accountability frameworks
  • Qualifications
    • Degree-level qualification or equivalent
    • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    • Evidence of ongoing leadership CPD
  • Desirable:
    • NPQH or equivalent senior leadership qualification, postgraduate qualification in education or leadership

Additional Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business use required)
  • Willingness to travel across Devon
