To strengthen our motivated Team at our Packaging Plant in Bradford, we are looking for a passionate Pre-Make Ready (PMR) Operator (m/f/d).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the digital and physical management of cutting tools, collating and supplying tooling for the Bobst cutting creasing machines, and ensuring that Bobst uptime is maximised. You will be responsible for ensuring operators have the appropriate tooling on a timely basis, supporting production and ensuring that quality products are consistently sent to customers in full, and on time. You must also ensure that H&S procedures are followed, that you comply with the Company’s established safe ways of working and ensure that the department meets the standards as agreed with each individual customer and comply with ISO Standards.

Due to PMR coming under the remit of Prepress we are uniquely placed to offer additional development in the additional Prepress functions of Design / Reprographics / CTP in conjunction with this role.

Person Specification:

Successful candidates should be educated to a good standard with previous experience of working within manufacturing, preferably within the Print Industry. Knowledge of operating machinery as well as previous skills and knowledge of working within a fast paced and ever-changing production and manufacturing environment is essential for this role. Candidates must have sound knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety alongside the ability to adhere to company policy and procedures. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills is essential to this role, as well as the ability to communicate effectively at all levels. Individuals must be able to prioritise their workload and work effectively when under pressure, as working to tight deadlines is part of this role. Applicants should have a flexible approach to working, be both externally and internally customer focussed and be both reliable and methodical. A sound knowledge of IT packages is essential for this role as well as administration skills, attention to detail and excellent numeracy skills. GMP knowledge, IOSH certification, and Lean Six Sigma knowledge and accreditation would also be desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient service to press support for the cutting & creasing department.
  • Meeting stipulated deadlines.
  • Support quality control process, participle in company quality programmes, and maintain required standards.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and actively support company improvement initiatives including Internal Audits, Calibration, Gemba walks, 5S events, etc.
  • Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene standards and take prompt action in case of concerns.
  • Liaise with other company personnel on progress to plan or related matters.
  • Adopt a flexible approach to work and undertake any other duties to support effective running of Pre-Press departments and wider business.
  • Achieve daily/weekly production targets.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed accurately and within short timescale.
  • To achieve established quality standards working within guidelines.
  • Maximising machine efficiency.
  • Minimise machine downtime.
  • Digital and physical tooling management.
  • Proactively work in partnership with the cut & crease department to log faults on tooling and improve the flow of communication regarding faults to increase the performance of all Bobst machines.
  • Work with Prepress-Design to ensure all tooling requirements are ordered and controlled, including the order and procurement of tooling, braille, and spares.
  • Responsible for ordering cutting dies and relevant embossing.
  • Housekeeping of the department.
  • Support all new and existing Prepress employees in PMR related activities.
  • Assist in group-related projects.

Week 1 Monday to Thursday 8:00am- 16.45pm and Friday 8:00am – 12.30pm

Week 2 Monday to Thursday 8:00am- 16.45pm and Friday 11.30am- 16.00. On occasion, due to the nature of this role you will need to demonstrate a certain amount of flexibility.
