The British flower market is worth £1.2bn and MM Flowers supplies fresh cut flowers and bouquets to the U.K.’s and Europe’s leading flower retailers. We grow and source the highest quality and most beautiful blooms across the world, delivering colour, passion, and inspiration through breath-taking blooms. Established in 2007, MM Flowers has grown exponentially every year and is based in a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility in Alconbury, Huntingdon. MM Flowers employs over 900 people who are dedicated to delivering exceptional quality and service to our customers.

The Technical and Quality Director is a key leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction and technical expertise across multiple departments within MM Flowers. The role requires a deep understanding of technology, excellent managerial skills, and the ability to drive innovation and optimise technical operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and communicate the technical vision, strategy, and goals for the organisation.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to align technical objectives with overall business objectives.
    • Identify emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
    • Provide guidance on technical investments, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Technical Excellence
    • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust technical standards, processes, and best practices.
    • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and reliable technical solutions that meet business requirements.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and creativity among the technical teams.
    • Stay abreast of advancements in technology and evaluate their potential application to the organisation's operations.
  • Team Management
    • Build and lead a high-performing technical team, including Factory Technical Manager & Customer Technical Manager.
    • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for team members.
    • Mentor and develop technical talent, promoting career growth and professional development.
    • Foster collaboration, knowledge sharing, and effective communication within the technical teams and across departments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, operations, and business development, to ensure alignment and smooth execution of technical initiatives.
    • Engage with clients, partners, and vendors to understand their technical requirements and develop strategic relationships.
    • Represent the organisation in technical discussions, conferences, and industry events to enhance its reputation and thought leadership.
  • Risk Management and Compliance
    • Identify and mitigate technical risks, ensuring the security, privacy, and integrity of systems and data.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and legal requirements.
    • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize system downtime and data loss.
What you can already do
  • Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, preferably within a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods Manufacturing environment.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving innovation and achieving results.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering collaboration, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align technical initiatives with organizational goals.
  • Knowledge of risk management, compliance, and security principles relevant to the industry.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, best practices, and emerging technologies.

When you work at MM Flowers you get more than just a salary. Holiday allowances are calculated on the days worked and you can find your allowance in your offer letter. Pension Scheme - You will be auto-enrolled onto the company pension scheme after 3 months. At present we operate an auto enrolment scheme where you will benefit from contributions from us. Onsite Parking – free parking is available onsite. Recommend a Friend Scheme – £250 is payable to you when you recommend a friend who is successful through the application process and successfully completes their 3-month probationary period. Career Progression – we actively encourage employees from within the business to consider roles which become available and whether that be within their field or want to consider a cross functional move. Wonderful working environment– we are all working in a modern contemporary purpose-built State of the Art facility. We work with an Occupational Health provider to support employees both mentally and physically. We run corporate engagement initiatives throughout the year.
