The British flower market is worth £1.2bn and MM Flowers supplies fresh cut flowers and bouquets to the U.K.’s and Europe’s leading flower retailers. We are currently looking for a Procurement Executive

To support the Senior Procurement Manager with in MM Flowers to ensure that our products arrive on time, in full and to the specification required. The role is a crucial cog in our procurement machine.

  • Work cross functionally with all departments.
  • Communicate daily with a range of suppliers and manage a long-term positive relationship whilst meeting the customer requirements.

Support the fulfilment of the procurement responsibilities by ensuring all systems, prices, forecasts, product codes and mechanics for each supplier are set up and maintained in an organised and methodical way.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of prices in the system and a proactive approach adopted to ensure 100% compliance.
  • Sending QC reports to suppliers.
  • Placing orders with the growers to meet customers needs, whilst minimising waste.
  • Manage the consignments in the system to ensure they are updated with confirmed farm availability / packing lists.
  • Monitor 3rd party orders and communicate changes in a timely fashion.
  • Work with Supply Chain to monitor supplier accuracy in daily arrivals vs orders.
  • Work with Technical to correct quality concerns immediately.
  • Order samples for customer presentations.
  • Assist with equipment where applicable.
  • Attend internal design feasibility when necessary and advise NPD / commercial / technical teams on product availability and potential challenges.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Monitor orders vs pre season forecasts.
  • Send forecasts to suppliers.
  • Supplier invoice approval.
  • Maintain the standard price book.

Supplier Negotiations

  • Assist the Procurement Manager with supplier negotiations and the collection of relevant data within designated souring area.

Managing Peaks

  • Support the preparation and implementation of peak planning for Christmas/Valentines, Mother’s day and Easter

Other Tasks

  • Support the wider Buying and MM Flowers team where necessary.

What you can already do

  • Previous experience of working in FMCG (Desirable).
  • Previous experience in the Flower Industry would be advantageous.
  • IT literate – high level of IT literacy with extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power-Bi.
  • Rubicon experience would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Good understanding of retailers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent numerical and literacy skills.
  • Accuracy & attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning & organisational skills.
  • Prepared to see the job through to the end.
  • Strong ability to coordinate.
  • Analytical.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with own initiative.
  • Good understanding and appreciation of wider business challenges and interactions. i.e. the interface between technical and commercial requirements alongside those of production, planning and stock management.
  • Occasion need to travel.
