As part of our continued growth and transformation, we are seeking an exceptional Group Technical Director to lead and modernise our technical function across the Group.

The Group Technical Director will define and lead the technical strategy across all MM Flowers sites throughout the UK and Europe. This is a highly influential executive leadership role with responsibility for technical governance, quality, product safety, legality, supplier assurance, customer technical standards, and operational compliance across the Group. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping a future-ready technical organisation that supports commercial growth, operational excellence, and customer confidence. The role requires regular international travel across our UK and European operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Technical Leadership
    • Define and deliver the Group-wide technical strategy aligned to operational, commercial, and customer objectives.
    • Provide visible leadership across all technical functions throughout the UK and Europe.
    • Ensure the business remains ahead of evolving customer, legislative, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical Governance & Compliance
    • Establish and maintain consistent technical governance frameworks across all sites and territories.
    • Drive a risk-based approach to quality, food safety, legality, and ethical compliance.
    • Implement structured KPIs, reporting frameworks, and performance reviews across the Group.
  • Customer Technical Leadership
    • Build trusted partnerships with major UK and European retail customers.
    • Lead customer technical strategies, escalations, and relationship management.
    • Translate customer expectations into clear operational standards and best practice.
  • Supplier Quality & Assurance
    • Lead supplier quality and assurance programmes across global sourcing regions.
    • Ensure supplier approval, auditing, and compliance processes are robust and risk-based.
    • Drive continuous improvement and risk mitigation across the supply base.
  • Transformation & Continuous Improvement
    • Lead the modernisation of the technical function through simplification, automation, and digitalisation.
    • Redesign technical workflows to improve efficiency, risk management, and customer value creation.
    • Embed a proactive, commercially focused technical culture across the organisation.
  • Leadership & Capability Development
    • Develop and inspire a high-performing international technical leadership team.
    • Create clarity around accountability, decision-making, and succession planning.
    • Foster technical capability and leadership development across all sites.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Act as the senior technical authority for MM Flowers externally with customers, suppliers, regulators, auditors, and certification bodies.
    • Partner closely with Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Commercial, ESG, and People teams.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded and transformational technical leader with significant senior-level experience within FMCG, fresh produce, horticulture, food manufacturing, or a related sector.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience leading multi-site and international technical functions.
  • Strong expertise in:
    • Customer technical management
    • Supplier quality and assurance
    • Technical governance
    • Food safety and compliance
  • Demonstrated success driving technical transformation, standardisation, and process improvement.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance customer, operational, and financial priorities.
  • Experience influencing at Executive and Board level.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience operating within centralised or shared-service technical structures.
  • Knowledge of digital technical systems and automation tools.
  • Experience working with major UK and European retailers.
  • Exposure to ESG, sustainability, or ethical compliance frameworks.

Location & Working Pattern

Based across MM Flowers Group sites in the UK and Europe. Regular international travel required. Full-time, 40 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday.
