With operations spanning the UK, Europe, Africa, and South America, we represent approximately 20% of the global cut flower market. Sustainability sits at the heart of our business model — from responsible sourcing and grower partnerships to innovation across our supply chain. As a business with a strong growth trajectory, we are committed to maintaining our industry-leading position on ESG performance.
We are seeking an ESG Manager – Nature and Water to play a pivotal role in delivering MM Flowers’ sustainability agenda. This is a newly created, high-impact role within the Group and will act as the technical lead for nature and water across our operations and supply chain. Reporting to the Head of ESG and working closely with the ESG Lead – Environment, you will develop and implement a robust nature and water framework with measurable targets and KPIs. You will collaborate with senior leaders, suppliers, flower shareholder companies, and external partners to address material risks and opportunities related to biodiversity, water stewardship, and regenerative agriculture. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape strategy at scale within a fast-moving, global business.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead for MM Flowers’ Group approach to nature and water, including biodiversity, water foot printing, restoration initiatives, water stewardship, and regenerative agriculture.
- Develop clear targets, delivery plans, and KPIs across MM Flowers’ own operations and supply chain.
- Work closely with external partners such as consultants, certification bodies, and industry experts to ensure data accuracy and best-practice approaches.
- Provide technical support and guidance to flower shareholder companies and key strategic suppliers to inform their ESG strategies and target setting.
- Support the ESG Lead – Environment in delivering environmental risk assessments and due diligence processes to meet regulatory and disclosure requirements.
- Conduct horizon scanning to prepare the business for emerging legislation and frameworks, including TNFD, CSRD, and related regulations.
- Lead and manage strategic projects that address MM Flowers’ most significant systemic risks related to nature and water.
Stakeholder & Industry Engagement
- Communicate nature and water insights clearly to internal teams, suppliers, and growers, supporting transparency and engagement.
- Support customer engagement by contributing to sustainability narratives, reporting, and presentations that showcase MM Flowers’ ESG approach and progress.
- Engage with industry initiatives, NGOs, and multi-stakeholder platforms to drive collaboration and continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Experience in environmental or agronomic sustainability, ideally within horticulture, fresh produce, or global retail supply chains.
- Strong project management capability with the ability to deliver complex initiatives across multiple stakeholders.
- Proven stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence at all levels.
- Experience leading collaborative, multi-stakeholder projects addressing systemic sustainability challenges.
- Ability to build and maintain strong internal relationships.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with global cut flower production or perishable supply chains.
- Experience working with external suppliers, NGOs, or multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Strong track record of collaborating effectively with commercial teams.
This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead nature and water strategy within a global, fast-growing business where sustainability genuinely matters. You will have visibility, influence, and the chance to make a meaningful impact across international supply chains.
