Hours: Full-time

The Contract Manager will be responsible for the effective management, governance and performance assurance of two complex service contracts, including a new managed network services contract and a second contract of similar scope. The role will ensure that contractual obligations are tracked, risks are identified and mitigated, service performance is monitored, variations are controlled, and supplier delivery remains aligned with business and operational needs. This is a hands‑on role requiring strong commercial judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to work with technical, operational, procurement and finance stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of assigned contracts, ensuring that obligations, milestones, deliverables and service levels are tracked and reported.
  • Maintain contract, risk, issue, action and governance trackers, ensuring they are accurate, current and auditable.
  • Lead contract governance meetings with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including agenda and paper preparation, action logs and escalation items.
  • Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations, KPI/SLA requirements, milestone commitments, and implementation plans, and escalate concerns as necessary.
  • Manage change control, variation requests and contractual amendments in accordance with agreed governance and approval processes.
  • Support project implementation and transition activities, including mobilisation planning, readiness reviews, milestone tracking and service acceptance.
  • Work with technical teams to ensure contractual requirements for service delivery, compliance, security, onboarding and operational readiness are translated into practical actions.
  • Validate invoices, payment profiles, credits and commercial adjustments against the contract, with finance support where required.
  • Support supplier relationship management, issue resolution and continuous improvement throughout the contract term.
  • Ensure contract records are complete, well governed, and ready for audit, assurance, or internal review.

Person specification

  • Minimum 5 years’ contract management experience.
  • Experience in IT, telecommunications, managed services, or a similar complex outsourced service environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of contract governance, obligations management, risk registers, issue management and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience managing change control, variations and contract amendments.
  • Experience supporting project implementation, mobilisation, transition or service onboarding.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work confidently with suppliers, finance teams, operational leads and technical specialists.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail, particularly around contract terms, service performance and invoice validation.
  • Ability to produce clear written reports, governance papers and action logs.
  • Based in, or able to work regularly in, the South East and travel to sites as required.
  • Experience in public sector procurement or contract management.
  • Experience managing telecoms or network services contracts, including service transitions and operational change.
  • Familiarity with service acceptance, milestone‑based delivery and supplier performance frameworks.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional delivery teams in technically complex environments.
  • Knowledge of risk management best practice and formal change control disciplines.
