Senior Student Data Officer (Part-Time)

Immediate Start | £45,000+ pro rata | London | Hybrid | Until end of September

MLC Education is delighted to be partnering with a world-renowned university in London to recruit a Senior Student Data Officer for an immediate start.

In this part-time role, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the university’s statutory student data returns, with a particular focus on HESA. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure data is accurate, compliant, and submitted on time.

Key Requirements:

Student Data and Statutory Returns Management

  • Lead the compilation and validation of student data required for national statutory returns, ensuring full compliance with regulatory bodies.
  • Monitor and quality-assure student records throughout the academic year in preparation for major external submissions, providing updates and guidance to internal teams to ensure accuracy and best practice.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required statutory data returns, in line with externally set deadlines.
  • Keep abreast of changes in national policy and reporting requirements, advising senior stakeholders on any implications for internal systems and processes.
  • Maintain oversight of applicant and student data integrity, recommending and implementing improvements to ensure continued regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of additional non-statutory data returns required by external professional or regulatory bodies.

Data Governance and Quality

  • Contribute to the development, implementation and enforcement of data quality policies and practices across relevant departments.
  • Coordinate responses to Freedom of Information requests relating to student data, ensuring statutory compliance and accuracy.
  • Analyse and interpret student data to identify trends and performance indicators, producing detailed reports for use by senior management and planning teams.
  • Manage the annual submission of data required to support student funding access, ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of postgraduate research data in line with external system requirements.
  • Provide strategic advice on data compliance to ensure alignment between internal reporting and external funding body expectations.

General Duties and Collaboration

  • Represent the department in relevant external professional networks and working groups.
  • Support institutional events and processes as required, such as open days, registration periods, and graduation ceremonies.
  • Provide cross-functional support to other administrative teams during busy periods or in the absence of key staff.
  • Maintain awareness of and comply with institutional policies, including data protection and health and safety regulations.
  • Undertake other administrative duties as directed by senior staff.
  • Continuously develop knowledge and maintain professional expertise relevant to the role.
  • Be flexible in responding to operational needs, including temporary reassignment to other teams or functions as necessary.
