Job Title: Pay Benchmarking Expert Day Rate: c. £500 per day (with flexibility) Location: Hybrid / Remote working available Contract: Interim / Contract About the Role We are recruiting on behalf of a high-profile public sector organisation for an experienced Pay Benchmarking Expert to join their Reward, Engagement and Compliance team. This is a pivotal role, providing expert insights and strategies to ensure the organisation remains competitive in attracting and retaining top talent. You will play a key part in shaping pay flexibility policies and delivering data-driven recommendations that support business-critical services. Key Responsibilities * Conduct pay benchmarking and analyse external compensation data to ensure competitiveness. * Lead participation in annual salary surveys, compile results, and deliver comprehensive reports on pay and reward trends. * Support the design and implementation of pay flexibility strategies that align with internal equity and market practice. * Use advanced analytical tools (including Excel) to produce clear, data-led insights. * Advise senior leaders on compensation strategy, salary bands, and incentive schemes. * Keep up to date with market research, trends, and best practices in reward and benchmarking. * Engage and influence stakeholders across HR, Finance, and senior leadership. Requirements * Proven experience in pay benchmarking, compensation analysis, or HR data analytics, ideally within the public sector. * Strong knowledge of UK pay and reward structures, with an understanding of relevant legislation. * Experience with benchmarking tools such as Brightmine, Mercer, or Willis Towers Watson. * Advanced Excel and data analysis skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data manipulation). * Excellent problem-solving ability, strong attention to detail, and clear communication skills. * Confidence in presenting complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
